According to the National Seismology Centre, earthquakes occurred twice. The first shock came at 2.25 pm, whose intensity was 4.6. About half an hour later, at 2.51 pm, another earthquake struck, whose intensity was 6.2. This earthquake forced people to run out of their homes.

Why do earthquakes occur?

The upper surface of the earth is made up of seven tectonic plates. Wherever these plates collide with each other, there is a danger of earthquake. An earthquake occurs when these plates try to enter each other's area, the plates rub against each other, immense energy is released from it, and due to that friction the earth above starts shaking, sometimes even the earth bursts. Sometimes for weeks and sometimes for months, this energy comes out intermittently and earthquakes keep coming, these are called aftershocks.
